Las Vegas- A Family Town
Before my sister and I graduated and moved off to college, my parents decided a last family trip was in order. They took all five children to Las Vegas, a great city to bring a family of country bumpkins and apparently a new hotspot for appropriate family fun. After landing, we quickly learned that the fliers being passed out on the street contained nothing we were old enough to see. My brother Patrick, who was seven years old at the time, loudly noticed a man dressed as a woman and hollered out, “Mom! What is it?!” drawing much unneeded attention towards us. As Carrie, the oldest sister, explained to Patrick what a transvestite was, my other two siblings were approached by a homeless man who thought they were his children. After a brief lecture of the dos and don’ts of Vegas by my dad, we were on our way to Circus Circus, an excellent hotel for families, the Excalibur dinner theatre, and the M&M factory. It was a great vacation and a fabulous real world learning experience!
